We started off as a small YWAM team working in the streets of Modesto to share donated bread with folks in our parks. Eventually, we realized that there were plenty of places for people to get food and what we really wanted to do was build friendships and community. And so, a new idea was born.

In our early days serving the Ninth Street community, we dreamed together of how great it would be to have a café or drop-in center in this part of town. Our friend Arley, himself from the streets, suggested we bring some coffee and a few tables and chairs and set up our own café right there on the street. This grew into what we called the Ninth Street Café. We never had a building, but somehow there was still a sense of place and home right there on the street.

The events of 2019 and 2020 changed the nature of 9th Street in Modesto, most of our cafe "regulars" moved away...also in this time we inherited a church property! We also started partnering with World Relief to begin welcoming immigrant families to our city and neighborhood.

But the "café concept" is still a part of everything we do! Turns out that good things happen when people gather over coffee, meals, tea, treats, conversation and games. We gather regularly with our congregation, partner with our local refugee community and a local facility serving the severely mentally ill all centered around "the table."

Each Monday we gather with the community for a meal, we end our meal sharing the Lord's Supper as well as songs and scripture together.

Mondays, 5:30pm-7:30pm

We'd love to have you join us!
